We miss you Kevin

One of our own, Kevin Engstrom, passed away on 11/3/08 at the young age of 49.  Kevin had been employed in our Presque Isle division as a Fuel Delivery Driver and Oil Burner Service Technician for the past 6 years.  In that time, he became not only a co-worker, but a friend to many at Daigle Oil Company.  His gentle nature and easy-going personality made him a joy to work with.  Always ready to lend a hand, he was one of the finest individuals around.  May he rest in peace....

We thought of you today
But that is nothing new
We thought of you yesterday
And will tomorrow, too

We think of you in silence
And make no outward show
For what it meant to lose you
Only those who love you know

Remembering you is easy
We do it every day
It's the heartache of losing you
That will never go away

REQUIRED TRAINING FOR DOC TECHS

The oilheat industry has developed a curriculum to establish excellence in the industry. Ensuring the best trained employees will ensure customers achieve maximum value through cost efficient and complete repairs, and quality service. A well trained workforce will also ensure that the oilheat industry provides safe, comfortable home conditioning systems. This training will ensure that the most energy efficient installations occur, and that the systems are properly vented, and the homeowner is guaranteed a warm home on the coldest day.

In addition to successfully completing required training, either through the Community College system or Maine Energy Marketers Association, all DOC services technicians must work with licensed technicians for a minimum of 1000 hours and pass a State of Maine licensing exam before they can receive their Journeyman license and work in the field on their own. This is DOC’s assurance to our customers that only the best trained technician services the heating system in their home or business.

In addition to the above training, Daigle Oil has its own training team and offers refresher classes throughout the year for their technicians. The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) has established a wide ranging certification and educational curriculum to encourage education, establish a standard curriculum, and recognize achievement. The certification program consists of a Bronze certification, Silver certification and Gold certification.

Daigle Oil has the following technicians who have achieved Bronze, Silver & Gold certifications: Bronze; Christopher Hartin & Christopher Gulesian Silver; Dean Saucier, Mitchell Dumond, Dana LaPointe, Nicholas Voisine, Scott Dubois & Jeffrey Violette, Gold; Dave Frazier, Craig Morneault, James Broome, & Anthony Soucier.
